My liver function tests are always normal, but my disease continues to progress. It took about 10 yrs to go from no damage to stage 3 fibrosis. Will my liver eventually give out, or could I have sudden liver failure? I've been trying to get my dr to start tx, but every time I see him, he tells me he wants to wait for the new meds. Not sure what to do
Are you having any treatment at the moment? Your doctor may be referring to the new medicine talked about here.
You could always seek a second opinion.
Your doctor is probably trying to wait until new meds are available which should be very soon.. As soon as the beginning of the year. I read that new meds have a lot less side affects. I've just completed my treatment -- I took 3 meds for 48 weeks. This treatment was very challenging but I have cirrhosis.. I completed my treatment 6 months ago and the virus is undetected..
I don't have a medical background but from what I read, as long as you take care of your body and not drink or smoke, you should be fine! I guess there's always a chance something can happen but that can be said about anything..
Try not to stress and read as much as you can on the subject.. What do they say, "knowledge is power"!
