... I had Hep C. I am scared, does it help to talk about it here, I feel so alone and lonely. Thanks, Sandy
Hi Sandy, I was diognosed with Hep C in 1993 but I didn't choose to do anything about it until 2005. I just wasn't ready, I don't know how you was infected but it makes a difference, if you were infected by contaminated blood products like a blood transfusion then that could have been worse than by being infected by transmissison of body fluids or sharing needles because a blood transfusion would contain much more of the virus. Do you have a liver specialist?, are you drinking? I can probably answer some of your questions. I went through a course of Interferon treatment and was lucky enough to clear the virus but it's had it's drawbacks. Anyway if you need any questions answered Sandy then just shout me and I'll try to help.
Sandy, people can live a life time with cirhossis. If you have compensated cirhosis your liver most likely can still do it's functions.
As far as how you got it. It doesn't matter lie the other comment said. If you got it from a blood tranfusion or someones cut hep c is hep c. What a stupid comment.
