the patient has been eating and drinking on an all- protein diet for over 8 months
A body needs certain nutrients from carbs and fats. Some vitamins are only fat soluble and all of these things can be caused by deficiencies. It is not good for you to eat just protein. There could be organ damage, especially to the kidneys. I would recommend a visit to a primary care doc. Why are they on a protein only diet? Are they doing this on their own or under a Drs supervision? If they are doing this on their own they could be badly harming themselves and need to reintroduce carbs and fats back into their diet. A good balanced diet with carbs, proteins and fats is best. Humans are omnivores not carnivores.
The name of the disorder you are looking for is probably Scurvy. A severe vitamin C deficiency. The loose teeth should be the giveaway. As the others have noted above there are likely to be other deficiency issues now also. Those protein drinks made of whey powder are notorious for causing kidney stones in susceptible people also.
