i have chronic fatgue syndrome for 13 years which stopped me working as a registered nurse. I suffer from disqualibrum, not vertigo but very unsteady on my feet cannot walk more than 30 feet without feeling like i am drunck and giong to fall and faint. I was on a half tablet of effexor then emigrated to australia where i find they only do effexor capsules not tablets. I have been offf the 18.75 mg for about a month trying acupucnture for the anxiety but the balenace probelm ids definatly much worse. the doctor told me to try half of pristiq but worried about the side effects as they were bad coming off small dose of effexor. My head is clearer i have no brain fog, but anxiety and unsteadness are bad any sugesstions?

Hello, yes if you start pristiq, one of the possible side effects is anxiety. It does not mean you might experience it but to be on the safe side I suggest you contact your doctor, there are many anti-depressants, he/she might be able to find one that suits you best. Good luck

It may sound a bit unusual Bucky but try not to jump to conclusions. Effexor has never been available in the U.S in any form BUT the capsule. Nor does it have a generic form.
Have you ever had your inner ear examined or tested? As a nurse, you know that's usually the origin of dizziness, spinning sensation, etc. It also could be straight up anxiety. Since you no longer work, maybe your doc could prescribe something for the equilibrium and anxiety?
My Mistake!! It does come in tablet form. I apologize. When I was prescribed Effexor (long time ago) it was available only in capsule form starting at 37.50mg up to 150mg. There is a 5 sided tablet. I'm wondering though, if this is an extended release medication, why would a doc suggest breaking them in half?
Sorry to keep adding comments. I found this information for you. I hope it helps.
"PRISTIQ is proven to relieve a broad range of depression symptoms. When taking PRISTIQ, it’s important to give it time to work. Everybody responds differently to treatment. In general, it can take several weeks to feel the full benefit of a prescription antidepressant, although some people will start to feel better sooner. Remember, it's important to take PRISTIQ as prescribed by your health care professional. Don't stop taking PRISTIQ without first talking to your health care professional, even if you don't feel results right away"
Best wishes,
Chris
