... daily since 1988. I've found that my anxiety/panic has been getting more prevalent over the last year or so. Should I see someone to bump up the dose after all these years or possibly find out about any "as needed" drugs?
Hello, Hopefully someone else has had this issue as well. I have been taking 1.5mg Clonazepam 2x?

The more you use benzos, the less effective they are. It is called tolerance. Benzos really should be used short term only for anxiety. In the long run, they compound the problem. They should be used short term until a long term drug and counseling on coping mechanisms can kick in. If you are treating anxiety with pharmaceuticals only, it sets you up for a worse outcome and ever increasing anxiety and a need for higher and higher doses. You need to learn coping mechanisms that are not pharmacological.

That's interesting. I'm glad you replied because I remember, like it was yesterday, the doc at the time telling me that I'd most likley be on the Klonopin for life as a "maintenence" med. I think back in 88 Klonopin was a fairly new drug for this use. I've stopped seeing a psych long ago. It seemed to be the same chat weekly and we never did pinpoint the cause of my anxiety/panic disorder. I do use some coping techniques, usually breathing excersises, when I start to feel an attack coming on but, some hit hard and quick. What long term, non-benzo, drugs are out there now? Are they effective? For what it is worth. I think that I have health anxiety bases on research I have done and compairing symptoms.
