I started taking Wellbutrin SR a couple of weeks ago. My doctor tapered up slow to avoid the stimulating side effects.
I switched over to the XL version 5 days ago and have also moved up to 300mg.
I’m still feeling very depressed and hopeless.
The only thing I feel that is different is some more energy but nothing on the depression side.
Has anyone else felt like this med isn’t going to lift depression and if it did do something for depression, how long did it take?
I’ve been battling 6 months with trying different drugs and I’m praying this one works
Hello, I’m new to the group. My question is related to taking 300mg Wellbutrin Xl.

Hi, Mom! Two toddlers! Well, bless your heart and you feeling poorly on top of it.
Unfortunately, these medications can take some time to reach their maximum effects so, although it takes a lot of patience, you may need to give this a bit more time:
"While depressed mood and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to improve, disturbances in sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working."
You do say your energy level has improved so perhaps that's a positive sign. Let's hope so!
Try to hang in there and think positively. A good attitude will go a long way in helping you feel better.
Best regards and good luck to you. Wildcat
I initially started with 150mg of XL once a day. I never noticed any side affects, which was a welcomed first. It probably took about a month for the black cloud over me to disappear. That dosage worked for about a year and a half and then my doctor increased my dosage to 300mg once a day. The only medicine I tried that worked quickly (within a few days) was Cymbalta, but it made me so tired I couldn’t function and it made me twitch. I hope this helps you. Good luck and take care.
hi! how do you feel now after a few months? really interested to know!
thanks
Hi, wanted to let you know that I do quite well with this med and dosage. It took about a month to kick in. I'd give it some time. I really hope it works for you, none of the ssri's work out for me. This and renewing my mind with positive thinking and meditation has really been helpful. Hope it all works out for you. Let us know.
