day four of absolutely zero sleep, can anyone tell me how long i will be before I will be able to relax enough to fall asleep again??? Or does anyone have any tips for me to fall asleep???
J, if you stopped taking suboxone at 16 mgs per day, you are likely going to have a couple of weeks of varying opiate withdrawal symptoms. You can get rx's for clonidine and methacarbomal for these symptoms and you might ask for an antidepressant. You could also google the Thomas recipe opiate withdrawal for a list of over the counter meds and supplements that treat the various withdrawal symptoms. All these withdrawal symptoms are attempts by your body to bypass the crashed natural pain relieving system your brain had in place before opiates and opiate replacement( suboxone). The body will keep producing various symptoms in an attempt to reboot that system and it will reboot, but it may take a while. There are rx's available that will help and you can do the thomas recipe if you want to not do rx's. At some point those symptoms will get a bit better, but that is why you body is producing them, to get the brain to reboot. You may not want to get back on suboxone, but if you do, and slowly taper off, you will not go thru these awful withdrawals. If you will get together with your subs dr and an addiction therapist, they can guide you on how to properly get off of it. Clonidine treats the rls, anxiety and insomnia part of this, methacarbomal treats tummy issues, and muscle spasms. I wish you the best. Patti
It sounds like you're doing all the right things to help yourself. You must be very determined to do a Cold Turkey off 16 mg of Sub a day. That's no small undertaking. Once you succeed don't forget to be very proud of yourself. I did a rather amazing detox myself once. The kind of thing where everyone I met would tell me I was going to fail. Not 1 person believed I would make it. But I did, and sometimes I still brag about it. That's what you're going to be able to do. So don't forget to be proud of.
I get the feeling you don't want any drugs to help make you sleep. So why not try something more natural. I'd recommend getting some Sleepytime tea to sip on the evenings before bed time. Sleepytime tea is good but also mild. It should start putting your body into sleep mode. Then when you go to bed try some Melatonin. I want to tell you what I do with Sleepytime tea. I put some artificial sweetener into it to improve the flavor. I used to put honey or real sugar, and then I realized that honey and sugar could also be causing me to not sleep. However, I don't like the flavors of the artificial sweeteners very much. So when I buy the Sleepytime I also buy Peppermint tea. I throw 1 or 2 bags of peppermint in with the Sleepytime. Sometimes I also add 1 to 3 bags of Chamomile tea to spike up the Sleepytime. It already has Chamomile in it, I just make it stronger. Try all this while waiting for your brain to reboot.
