... days. He recently took it for 10 nights straight and on the ninth day of it being in his system became hateful, accused me of something I haven't done (but is convinced I did it) and has been increasingly angry, hateful and has asked me for a divorce. Have any of you or your spouses noticed this kind of reaction?
Hey buffaloe7. No ive never experienced that nor has my husband & there's sometimes I take it nightly for a month or more straight. Did he start any other new meds? The only other thing that occurs to me is that ambien can cause such vivid dreams that feel real. I know I myself have actually asked my husband where so & so went only to have him look at me as if i was crazy saying that as far as he knew they were still 4 states away fron us & we hadnt seen them in 6yrs. I felt confused & could clearly picture them cuz i dreamt they had come to visit us & slept over. It took me a few minutes to believe him that they weren't there & he wasn't messing with me. Its a weird feeling bcuz the dreams seem so real. Maybe this happened to your husband. I know another time i dreamt my hubby cheated on me & i woke up furious staying mad for a week at him. Hope everything works out & that this helps. Take care
Taking Ambien every night and /or for a long period of time can cause side effects. There have been many times that I will have cooked & eaten a 3 course meal, shopped on Amazon, called people on the phone, sent emails, written letters, and snapped at my son. And had no memory of any of it at all!
I haven't done this yet (and hopefully never will) but I have heard of people getting in their car & driving. I have even heard of people having sex with no memory.
Let me ask you this... does this only happen when your husband is on Ambien? If he is taking other medications with Ambien, you may want to check for possible interactions. Ambien is not something you want to take every single night. It loses its effectiveness & increases the chance of side effects. I know this from experience unfortunately. I have been on Ambien on & off for approximately 10 years. On a good day, I weigh 100lbs. I have to take 20mg of Ambien for it to work.
20mgs takes about 3 hours to help me go to sleep and then I rarely sleep for longer than 4 hours.
It should be noted that I have what is called a genetic pain tolerance to medication so I become immune quick & usually have to take more than the average person.
If this anger continues with your husband, at the very least, I would talk to your pharmacist and/or doctor.
Good luck, hon
