I have been on Methadone 21/2 years and it has helped me alot. I have bad anxiety and use to drink alcohol to help, but lately I have been taking Clonazepams the day after I drink, before work, and before I go to bed. I am up to 20-30, 0.5mg per day. I feel great and i have slowed down on my drinking but I am worried about getting hooked on the benzo's. Also taking 116mg of methadone a day cant be a good thing. I have only been taking benzo's daily for about a month, If I stop now, will I go into withdrawl?
Hello everyone, I have a question about Methadone and Clonazepams?

I have also decreased my methadone 10mg a month, I was a 150mg for 2 years, and I feel better being at lower dose.
First let me get this straight, you are taking 20 to 30 pills of 0.5mg clonazepam a day? If this is what you meant, you are taking too much of this medication. The recommended maximum for panic disorder is 4 mg per day ( 8 of the 0.5mg pills) Even though you have only been taking for a month you will have withdrawals since you are at such a high dose and may in fact run the risk of having a seizure if you stop abruptly.
I have to share also that mixing methadone with the clonazepam and alcohol is a deadly combination. You are playing with fire. The effects this could have on your heart and respiratory system are dangerous to say the least.
Please cut back slowly on the clonazepam, forgo drinking at least until you have the clonazepam to a manageable level and consider not drinking at all while taking this medication.
i'm so sorry you to hear you've been on methadone so long, but glad your reaching out for help. Sounds to me your situation is of such a nature,I would speak to a doctor first.Due to the length of time you've been on methadone, dose level and that you added another drug to the equation, to stop cold may cause problems for you.Be very careful and thnk it through before doing anything. Good luck, my prayers are with you.
