Why is so hard for me to get the pain medicine that I need they have me jumping through hoops and meanwhile I'm still in pain stressed out and I don't know what to do I so tired of going to the ER. costing me tons when I have a Dr.
If you haven't already, find a gastroenterologist doctor who -specializes- in pancreatic disorders. And do all you can to prevent a flare up, such as no alcohol, no smoking, eating smaller more frequent meals. Ask your doctor if taking pancreatic enzymes, such as Creon, would help you. When in pain, do not eat and drink nothing but water; when your pancreas is inflamed (pancreatitis), it needs to rest, and not be further aggravated by being called on to help digest foods. I hope this helps!
I agree with previous reply! Get a gastro dr and go from there. Warning: it is just HARD for everyone to get pain meds. I used to be able to get as many as I needed but not I can't even get a few (like 10/mo) for flare ups. So I just suffer. It sucks. The folks who make the rules have decided to focus on those who abuse these meds instead of those who really need them. C'est la vie, I guess. Good luck! Robbin
Hi. While it is true that pain medication is more difficult to acquire for the needy, I suggest you stress and express your needs to your Specialist and primary physicians. In the interim, walmart, has topical pain meds that do work during the rough pain ..with heat. It has save me numerous trips to ER. Drink plenty of water, watch what you eat, drop the fried foods and spice ..go bland for a week until you feel better, keep Tylenol on hand..1 q 6 hrs. But stay encouraged, the mind is powerful! Remember find a good gastroenterologist start your search on Health grade. Praying for you.
