... is still giving me a fit. Does anyone know if taking Zantac and pantoprazole affects the test, plus I have read that you are not supposed to eat or drink before the test. Is this true?
H. pylori is a microorganism and the presence of it should be affected by pantoprazole. Pantoprazole is part of a treatment regimen that contains antibiotics, so I don't know if it works on its own. Zantac (ranitidine) is known to cause false negatives on urea breath tests for H. pylori, so you'll need to retest.
