... treated, however the doctor did not calculate the dosage right and she was shorted 3 days of medication. Despite me calling almost daily the remainder of the antibiotic was called in 3 days after she ran out. This year she comes to me with the same complaints that she had before. After contacting her gastroenterologist he claimed because she was treated she should not have it again. I finally took her to her pediatrician who ordered stool tests which confirmed it was back. as if that's not bad enough, she won't get to see the gastroenterologist until the 18th of May. My question, what can I do to help her with the pain she has. Not just in her stomach but it also makes her back hurt. I started probiotics and yogurt daily. HELP! I hate seeing my child lying in bed on a heating pad and missing school
Hello Allieanna, When you do see your gastro doctor, ask him/her to also check for SIBO, small intestinal bacteria overgrowth. My son was treated for H.pylori and it cleared up. His retest showed it was negative but he was still having symptoms. He was then tested for SIBO and it came back positive.
He was then treated for SIBO with a very expensive antibiotic, around $5,000.00 without insurance but we were lucky enough to have the insurance. As he was being treated for this he also saw a nutritionalist and has followed the FODMAP diet ever since. In fact, the nutritionalist advised him to begin the FODMAP diet right away as he was waiting insurance approval for his meds. The diet and treatment of SIBO has helped him recover from almost two years of pain from H.pyloi and SIBO. He follows this diet still, although he is at the point of being about to reintroduce other foods. He was in so much pain for so long he says it's not yet worth it to him to stray from the diet.
As a mother who has watched her child go through the pain of H.Pylori and SIBO I feel for you and your daughter. There is nothing more frustrating than watching your child in pain and not being able to help them.
