i found it with my daughter. can it be abused?
It is also known as the brand name Antivert. It is also sold OTC as Dramamine II or Dramamine Less Drowsy Formula and Bonine. It is not a controlled substance. As said, it is used for dizziness and motion sickness. It can cause drowsiness and has a calming effect, especially in higher doses, it can also, in some, cause hallucinations, blurred vision, double vision, nervousness in some people-rather than the calming effect, dry nose and throat, and sometimes an appetite supression. As another poster said, it can be mixed with other drugs to "potentiate" the other drugs. It is not an antihistamine but has similar effects as an antihistamine does. It is actually classed as an anticholinergic drug. Some kids will take any drug that makes them feel sleepy or dopey. Drugs like dextromethorphan, antihistamines, antidepressants etc. are abused for these kinds of effects especially among young teens and pre-teens.
Time for the talk about the dangers of taking drugs and find out what effects she was expecting to get from this drug. Peer pressure is strong in the teen aged groups. She may have been offered the drug and wanted to be part of the "in" crowd.
