My daughter-in-law can't get in to see her doctor until July, and she is worried sick that she may have MS or worse, ALS. Her right leg feels heavy and she has a tightening in the muscles at the back of that thigh. She is 37 and in very good shape as she is quite thin, eats healthy, and runs the occasional 1/2 marathon.
There are some back issues that can cause that too. I know she's thinking the worst. Its hard to believe that her dr won't see her till July. Did she tell them there was a problem. It sounds like they scheduled her for a routine visit.
I would call and speak to them, she should not be put off that long, that could be a number of things, tell her stop worrying it does not help a thing. but do get it checked.
That's one way I know I am having a flair up... my arm or leg is heavy...
MS is not related to your fitness and will strike anybody. When I was first diagnosed in August 2013, I remember reading the next day about a woman who climbed Mount Everest. So every case of MS is different, like snowflakes. Mostly women. Anywhere from age 20 to 50 is common range of onset but there are pediatric cases. If she is concerned, she should push to see her GP earlier.
