Sorry I didn't realize how these questions worked...
I developed svt while pregnant with my son. My RESTING heart rate was spiking to 170-180 at very random times with no trigger noteD. No doctor could give me an answer as to why it was happening. After my son was born the SVT disappeared....until I became prgnant again. With my first child it started at about 28 weeks, this pregnancy just like the two miscarriages I had last year it has started early. I'm 8 weeks along and it has already gotten fairly bad. What I don't understand is why it ONLY starts when I'm pregnant AND no other timE.
My initial episodes of SVT also, as you described began during pregnancy. I had a great change in body weight, of course. .From 100lbs. To 140 lbs. Tachycardia was treated with 10mg of Inderal tablets and even though i did not want to take any medicine while pregnant; the tachycardia was 187-203 heart rate and i had to get it controlled with the inderal... i have always had to live with the supraventricular tachycardia since... i seen a cardiologist, whom performed a heart-ultrasound called: an Echocardiogram... That ultrasound -Echocardiogram showed bloodflow regurgitation via both, tricuspid and mitral heartvalves.. also prolapse of both valves..These results explained every symptom that i was not understanding the cause of the arrhythmia. I would definitely recommend a specialist: Cardiologist who can see your heart chambers, size, and % of functioning [ejection fraction ] . Of course you should discuss this with your Personal Physcian first, to get the referal to the Cardiologist if you don't have one yet.. i was 30 yr old, before i finally got diagnosed.. With the right medical care and medication, arrhythmias can be managed and life gets back to joyful with your child. ..usually, you will be asked to wear a heartrhythm monitor and recorder... that was the first test..it records the episodes for your Doctor to evaluate... Trust your Doctor, and keep your appointments.
