There are alternatives to the statins for lowering chloesterol. I would definitely discuss these with the doctor. Becareful with the vitamins as they may contain Vitamin K which can affect the anticoagulation ability of the coumadin. Niacin is safe to take with coumadin, but whether the buffered works as well as the regular I do not know.
