I had the same fear when I was prescribed to take it several years ago. The side effects made me feel crap at first, but they went away and I've been fine since. I take 60 mg for fibromyalgia and it has helped immensely. But if I miss a dose, look out - I get dizzy, a headache and brain zaps. But I have to be 12-24 hours late for that to happen. Also - I have found taking it in the morning is best - it makes it hard for me to sleep if I take it anywhere near bedtime. It's not a bad drug in my opinion. Once you get past the initial adjustment period, you probably won't even know that you're taking it except (hopefully) for feeling better. All the best -Julie
All you can do is try it, and give it a solid 3-weeks minimum before making any changes + or -, if it's not feeling good for you that's a good time to stop, if so, give it another 2-weeks to get out of your system before trying another.
It works well for many, I'm not one of them, but there are many.
The longer you use it, the longer you need to get it out, and do get it out as you d not want to overlap these types of meds.
I have been actively taking Cymbalta for the past 6 weeks.
I have both depression & GAD, so it's been really good for me. I personally had minimal side effects of dry mouth, restlessness and loss of appetite.
They all went away after the first 3 weeks. Also, my sex drive or any energy depleting feelings haven't arouse like I worried they would.

I had previously taken 29 mg brand name cymbalta for eight years and it worked well. I switched to generic from Canada because of cost. It slowly lost power. My doctor says the generic here is the US is fine. I have been on it 47 days, tha last week and a half is 30 mg. I have some good days and some not so good. I see my doctor next month to evaluate.
