Hi, oldcbbc!
When I had to stop my beloved venlafaxine altogether I had no problem on a reducing dose schedule and it had to be a fairly fast one.
If your doctor agrees with you reducing your dosage I would recommend adjusting your dose slowly... like don't jump down to 150mg right away. Maybe take a 150mg and a 37.5 mg for instance and see how you do with that dosage.
As for whether it will control your anxiety it's a try it and see. You can't predict how you will respond.
