I was given this drug for Narcolepsy, but what this drug did for me has been nothing short of a miracle! I cannot remember the last time I have had severe fatigue! I've had no side-effects and feel more awake than I've been in years! Just wanted to share!
Thanks for letting me know - I am actually considering asking my doctor for Provigil - good to know the new name and that it helps so much. I just don't sleep well and can't stay awake enough to get any paperwork or financial/computer work done. I appreciate you taking the time to comment - please take care -
I don't have Fibro, but DO have extreme fatigue from the low thyroid and adrenal function. I was put on PROvigil several years ago--to help me stay awake during the day. When the cost got up to $550.00 a month for 30 pills, I switched to NUvigil. This is 'only' costing me $406.00 a month--- and I really couldn't tell any difference between the two...
I would love to scream and shout. I started taking Savella two months ago and then because I work nights my Dr. started me on Nuvigil. I have suffered from fibromyalgia for 10 years. I have gone the narcotic route (Lortab,Oxycontin). Taken anything that maybe would help with fibro (Cymbalta, Effexor, Lyrica). Nothing worked, until now. I have not felt this good in forever. I am working in the flower beds again, having sex with my hubby, watching the grandkids, going shopping and feel wonderful. My pain is just pain. No agonizing pain from a fibro flair. I have been lucky enough that I have continued to work, the fibro did not keep me from my job, but when time off came I was in the bed or chair until time to go back to work. If you have fibro please, please check with your Doctor about these two meds. It has made my life new again.
Yes, I have been taking Nuvigil for about 5 months; was on Provigil for a year prior to that. My Fibro pain is pretty much under control most of the time, but the fatigue was interfering with every aspect of my life. I take Nuvigl 250mg when I get up at 6AM to go to work and it keeps me wide awake until about noon. 2 or 3 days a week I lie down from 12-1 on my lunch break, sometime to rest and sometimes I fall asleep. I work until 5 and arrive home around 6. I am exhausted and sometimes take a nap and am ready for bed at 10 or so. I had a sleep study and get no stage 4 or 5 sleep. Nuvigil has been a wonder drug for me and my circumstances. I also take Cymbalta, Synthroid, Toprolol, Aciphex, Klonopin, Flexeril, Lyrica, and Norco prn. I am able to work full time and get a little done on the weekends, but mostly rest. Good luck to you! Hope this helps.
