have an important question. I been taking pain killers daily (4) and suboxen to come off the withdrawels. was doing alot more. found out bout 4 weeks Im pregnant and really scared because I dont know what my chances are of having a healthy baby or a miscarriage. I dont wana be on a maintenance program. I just wana be drug free and kicking myself for a stupid relapse. please can someone give me some proper info.
The first thing you need to do is change your Suboxone to Subutex. Suboxone has Naltroxone and is not recommended for pregnant mothers.
Second, do not just quit everything... you could put your body into withdrawls which could, in turn, kill your baby. I know, I lost three by going "cold turkey". The best advice I can give you as the proud mother of an 8 yr old boy who was born of an addict is to tell your dr., get on Subutex and begin a taper-off program now so that when your baby is born you will both be healthy, happy, and drug free!!!
hi luking4info,have you ever read the warnings on suboxone, and what they say about pregnant women?you hafta start plaining for this today not tomorrow.having a baby on methadone is safer than suboxone or subutex. i know you said you dont want to go that route.find all the info you can then talk with a pediatric doctor who is familiar with your situation. please don't listen to just your suboxone prescribing doctor.most of them don't know jack about detoxing a pregnant woman. im not saying all of them don't,im saying most of them.im on a methadone/suboxone clinic.i dont know how along you are but like the other people just told you this is a life or death situation.please educate yourself and find a doc who is familiar with your situation. i will keep you in my prayers.
