It's an inflammation of the chest wall. How is it treated?
My first symptom was costochondritis-since then I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, celiac disease, degenerative disc disease osteo arthritis and most recently ra(we think-still not resolving symptoms even with high dose prednison, methotrexate, paquinal), I think the costochondritis is one of the most painful things I have experienced-the Dr could actually feel how the cartlage acually popped out of place. Unfortunately in my experience there is not a lot that can be done-I used antiinflammitories, pain meds,rest-I even used an ace wrap to hold my rib cage stable. The one thing that gave some relief was lidoderm patches over the area that hurt the most. This does yake quite a while to resolved-one flare up and I missed about 3 months of work. Good luck I hope you find some relief!!
i was diagnosed with costochondritis first right now i am in the process of being tested for fibromyalgia my mother has had it for a little over 5 years the treatments i was told that is supposed to help costochondritis is a heating pad, rest, and an antinflammitory named naproxin which helps slightly
