... like she could sleep for days. Besides prescriptions, what are some healthy alternatives/supplements that may work to help boost her energy levels? Would working out provide a short term/long term benefit?
A few months ago I found out I had hashimoto's. This was one of the signs. I felt very very tired very sleepy lethargic at some times brain fog you name it I had it. It's so hard to fight it and being a pro athlete it was devastating to me. I took my meds "euthyrox 50micrograms" but I also had insulin resistance and hypoglycemia which made the entire situation uglier and I had to take metformin too. We have our good days and our really bad days. I feel for her.
I did not of course stop working out and would advise her to do so. If she is not used to working out I would advise to start with a 10 minute walk, dance, cycling anything she likes and adding it up from there.
A change in her diet will help too. Gluten free grain free nuts and seeds free night shades free. Basically an autoimmune paleo diet I didn't completely nail this part yet but I m working on it. She must also be aware of her calorie intake because our disease slows down the metabolism. Taking a healthy probitotic helps in clearing her system eg: coconut kefir. (Stay away from dairy) ... I know... I know "what do I ear now??? " but there are alternatives.
I would get tested for hypoglycemia and pcos since in some cases they sadly come in the package.
Please sir do understand that it will be very difficult for her at first but it does get easier. She WILL feel very sad very tired and frustrated of being sad and tired... kinda confusing but well it is what it is...
The thing is we have this for life and it is serious... so taking the first step forward is a must...
1-change the diet: short and long term boost for energy levels(gluten takes about 6 months to clear out from her system)
2-work out:short and long term boost for her energy levels definitely.
I am not an expert in this but I hope that this helped a little.
May God bless you...
