... no diagnose) ago and 1 month in medication(Levoxyl 25) I gained 70 pounds in 7 years. Any one can share your expirience trying to lose weigth? Thanks
I also gained weight due to undiagnosed Hashimoto's with hypothyroidism. (60 pounds) I've found that the best way to lose it is with both diet and exercise. You need to remember that your medicine isn't enough to help you lose weight, only enough to keep you from gaining more. The most effective diet for me has been Weight Watchers. It's gradual but it works. For exercise, really anything is fine. Just walking 10 min a day (3-4 days a week) will help to burn calories and boost your metabolism. The key is to find what you enjoy and do it. And most importantly, stay positive! You can do it!!
I sympathize with the weight gain. I gained 50lbs in 5 months! I know it just feels horrible. I went to a couple of Dr's before I found the right Dr who saw me as a patient, not just my lab numbers. She prescribed Spironolactone + Synthroid, which helped me drop the weight considerably. I also changed my diet considerably, no sugar, carbs... that kind of thing. Of course I was under the supervision of my Dr. And, of course exercise is necessary. I went up 5 dress sizes & now I am almost down to my normal weight. It has taken about a year... but so worth it! Ask your Dr about the Spironolactone. That was the key for me. I lost the weight, my hair grew thicker & I wasn't exhausted all the time. But remember, everyone reacts differently to meds. So it is important to talk to your Dr.
