If so, how did it work? I understand it is for relief of depression when one or more antidepressants have failed. I've been on over 20 psych medications over the years, and none really seemed to help. I've followed TMS all through the Clinical Trials and FDA approvals, and now my psychiatrist offers this therapy. Also, does anyone have an idea of the cost? I know very few insurance companies cover it.
Has anyone tried Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for depression?

This question was originally posted back in 2011, so I don't know why this site is posting it again, as it had several comments on it. I've done the TMS therapy 2 sessions (of 24-30 treatments each) and it helps - greatly! I'm continuing to lower on the opiates for chronic pain, and the large drops have triggered major depression, that's why I've needed to go for 2 sessions. This works - fantastic! No anti-depressants or psych meds ever helped, and I've tried 28 different meds. TMS therapy has been the only thing that has otreated my depression! If you have any questions I'd be glad to give you any information that I can. - ElizaJane
Honestly, it sounds desperate, and a lot like ECT therapy is. I would not be a guinea pig for someone's bogus playing with my brain, even if I was depressed enough to blow it away myself. Seriously!! I doubt you will find anyone that has done it here, since it is not a pharmaceutical treatment, you might have better luck doing an INTERNET search for a support group, and for people that have had this treatment done and made it through to tell the good and/or the bad. I am guessing that it is just expensive and doesn't work. That would be why insurance doesn't cover it - because research shows it is bogus. I am sorry if you find this depressing - so do I. Have you tried just a spiritual approach? I really think that would be the next thing I would try if I were you, Just ask God to show you who He is, and to help you through this if He loves you, He will help (if you let Him) because He does love you more than you could ever know or imagine! Try reading the book about Him (the Bible) and start with Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. The Psalms are great too, and show King David was often depressed, but knew He had a God who loved him and took comfort in that. That same God loves you a lot. Outside of medicine the only place I find comfort in is my faith - in knowing that there is a wonderful God who loves me so much that He sent His only son to die in my place so I can know him forever when this life is finally over. This time is the worst part of life - the first part. It get's much better with time, I hope and pray you can find the faith to know that. Take care, and may you feel the love and peace of God more than ever before .
