I cannot get through the sudden loss of my father, we were best friends. The doctor gave me Wellbutrin today because of my anxiety and obsessive thoughts of my dad. Do you think this will help?
Sorry to hear about your loss. I cant imagine how hard that is. If this doesn't help please let your Dr. know and try something else. I'm sure your Father is looking over at you and wished that you would be Happy and enjoy your life versus you being sad for him being gone from here. But know that he loves you dearly and I'm sure he wishes you Happiness and to celebrate his life that he had versus mourning his departure from here. Best Wishes, and I will keep you in my prayers!!
I lost my wife a year ago. She had lung cancer and did well at first, but a relapse ended that 8 year respite. I am also bipolar and I deal with depression from that most of the time. I only started Wellbutrin 3 weeks ago because I developed problems with the other antidepressant I was taking. I found that it helped me begin to adjust to the realities of my new life. It did not diminish the loss or cast aside the feelings I had but it allowed me to move forward with my grief rather than being crushed to the floor by it. Best wishes on your new road, do well and make your father proud.
I was put on Wellbutrin after the loss off my son. I didn't find it to work for me. I felt like my head was in a fog most of the time. My dr tried several different antidepressants and the only one that seemed to work the best for me was Lexapro but none of them made me not feel the emotional pain that was there. My son passed away back in 2007 n I still have days where I don't even want to get out the bed. Although I now have more good days than bad ones, I still have days that suck. But to answer your question, it didn't work for me and I was on it for almost 3 months. Other than feeling like being in a fog I had mild hallucinations ( more audio than visual) & it messed up my stomach( the whole works) nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and at times constipation. Only side effect from Lexapro was sleepiness so I would take it b4 bed
