- birth control, zarah
Recently I switched birth control medications to Zarah. With my pervious birth control i only experienced increased emotions and mood swings before starting my period, but now on Zarah I am more frequently and intensely emotional for no apparent reason. I also know someone else who it seems to be affecting more dramatically.
Has anyone else experienced something similar to this?
I have most definitely experienced the same thing as you!! I had been on Ocella for almost a year and doing wonderful, a month a ago my pharmacist said they longer carried Ocella and replaced it with Zarah, and boy has it been hell. My emotions are all over the place and my mood swings are horendous, just seem to be on edge all of the time.
Yes! They just switched me from Ocella to Zarah, and I'm on my first pack of Zarah and I am a mess! I've got mood swings like you wouldn't believe - been picking the dumbest fights with my bf, and we NEVER fight. One minute I'm crying, the next I'm throwing things... I'm calling my pharmacist immediately. They say Ocella and Zarah have the same active ingredients, but what about the inactives? At this point, I am willing to pay more for the Yasmin.
I have been on Ocella for about two years now with no problems. I started taking Zarah a month ago because my pharmacy stopped carrying Ocella and I am really having a hard time. Emotionally, I am all over the place and am having a great deal of anxiety. I would like to stay on a generic because of the cost covered by my insurance, but am also ready to just pay the extra money just to feel better. I finally realized the issue was the pill and started taking it on an full stomach instead of empty, and that has helped alot. I am in the process of calling my doctors and pharmcies to figure out a better solution before all of the people in my life can't stand me anymore!
Apparently Ocella has a few inactive ingredients that act as vehicles for dispersing other chemical structures. I think this means that you're getting a more instantaneous shot of the active ingredients in Zarah, while Ocella spreads it more gradually. That would explain why people find it better when they take it with food so the hormones are diluted and less severe. Thank you so much everyone for posting your experiences, I just noticed the difference online and I'll make sure to get Ocella or pay for Yasmin if they don't have it when I go to the Pharmacy, thanks!
