... prescribed 100 mgs a day as needed for anxiety, that seems like an awflly lot? and i got to take 30mgs of fluoxetine a day for depression. i just quit paxil cold turkey after i've taen 40 mgs aday for over a year and just had a hellish ride of my life. i will never ever take paxil again, since then i have been adraid of drugs
What medication 100mgs a day are you taking for anxiety? If I may ask, why did you just quit taking paxil cold turkey after being on it for over a year? My heart goes out to you going cold turkey like that. You should have been weened off the paxil so you did not have to go through a "hellish ride". I see why you are afraid of medications. Remember, not all medications are bad. We all react differently to medications. Before stopping any medication you should always let your physician know. Some medications you just cant stop and go "cold turkey" without having side effects. Sandy
I'm assuming that the 100mg/day prn(as needed for)anxiety is one of the following medications: Vistaril(hydroxizine), Trazodone(desyrel), Luvox(fluvoxamine), and possibly Inderal(propranolol) - although that would be a lot of Inderal. Fluoxetine is also known as Prozac. Paxil(paroxetine) has very commonly been known to have withdrawal symptoms upon discontinuing use. When compared to the withdrawal symptoms of opiates or benzodiazepines, Paxil withdrawals are very mild.
