Has anyone here transitioned from an SSRI like Celexa to Nortriptyline? I've only been on Celexa... (20mg) for 3 months, but my doc has now prescribed Nortriptyline (25mg) instead. Thanks for any suggestions
You can taper off the Celexa while starting the Nortriptyline. Nortriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant doesn't require any waiting period to start after being on an SSRI such as the Celexa. What directions has your doctor given you? Best to follow his advice.
I gave up on the Nortriptyline after 3 months. I never felt any effects from it. I'm trying Celexa again at a much higher dose 80MG, but it's been 3 weeks and I haven't felt a thing. trying to hold on and keep waiting. Also supplementing with Adderall - but that doesn't seem to do anything either.
I got a hold of 2 2mg hydromorphone (i also have chronic back pain). They also did nothing. I thought for sure I would feel something from those, but nada. A friend also gave me some Gabapentin 300mg to try. Took 3 of those throughout the day - didn't feel a thing. I swear - what is wrong with me? Why don't any of these things work? It's maddening. Anyone have any ideas? I know taking the stuff I got from my friend was stupid, but I was feeling desperate. I'm just going nuts here, none of this makes any sense.
Actually, you could transition from the Celexa 20mg to the Nortriptyline without waiting at all because that drug works on Serotonin just like Celexa and additionally Norepinephrine. Some people, (not all) experience more side effects on Nortriptyline than on Celexa but there are additional benefits as well. Any other questions please ask.
