... (serotonin and noradrenaline) if taken at a dose of minimum 225mg a day?
As far as depression there are three neurotransmitters to be aware of, serotonin, norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and dopamine. Effexor acts on serotonin and norepinephrine. The only antidepressant that I am aware of that acts on dopamine is Wellburtin.
Hope this helps,
I already posted this on your other question about lithium and effexor, but just in case you don't read it... SNRI's like effexor/effexor xr (serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) only act on those 2 chemicals in the brain. Abilify is also a med that acts on dopamine. i am on effexor xr 300mg and abilify 5mg. A lot of times drs will prescribe abilify along with an antidepressant to increase the effects of it. I know it's done wonders for me. Another thing about wellbutrin--a moderate to occasional severe side effect with it is seizures. you especially want to look at this if you have other health problems, as it increases your chances of seizures.
