I have been on subs for about 3yrs now and cant seem to kick the habit.Iam thinking about going to a methadone clinic but not real sure if thats a good idea.My plan would be to go to the clinic for about a month.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Has any one gone down this road.
I've tried both Suboxone and Methadone, and for me personally, Methadone was incredibly sedating. Whereas I was able to function fine while on Suboxone. (I suffer chronic pain from 3 ruptured discs in my spine).
The drawbacks of going to a Methadone clinic is that you have to go EVERY day and get a pill, and that's a pain in the ass. With Suboxone, you can just go to your pain doctor or a substance abuse specialist, without the whole "nanny" business of being monitored daily, and it interrupting your daily life.
That's just my opinion, though. You could ask your doc to try Methadone instead of Suboxone, and get a script for it rather than going to a clinic daily to get one pill.
Methadone Clinics sometimes let you take home a couple pills, but you still have to report back and they do random urine screens. Suboxone seems like an easier route to go. Perhaps you are tapering off too fast?
You could ask your doctor to up your dose and taper off much more slowly, since the withdrawal symptoms are interfering with your ability to function.
