... switched me to fluoxetine after taking paxil for 10 years, just cold turkey no step down then change and I have been having all kinds of crazy symptoms like never before. I suffer with social anxiety, which is why i took paxil. i want to switch back. Is fluoxetine helpful with anxiety at all or does it just make it worse?
i take fluoxetine for depression(20mgs)and i have taken paxil a long time ago but never any feelings of anxiety..does your fluoxetine help your anxiety?
Hi, did he give a reason to switch be its odd after 10 years on paxil to switch. was it still working for you. Whenever you switch medications anything can happen. SSRIs like prozac and paxil work very similar but they are both used for depression and social anxiety, what dose of paxil were you on and what is the dose of the prozac/fluoxetine, that could be one of the reasons. You know your body and if you felt fine on paxil call your doctor and get back on it and ask him why he switched it. The only reason I can think off if you told him its not working as good as b4 or if he seen something in you that your not aware of but both drugs are basically the same.
Prozac at first can make a person feel speedy but that usually goes away withing a couple of days and some people do get more anxiety on SSRIs even though they are approve for GAD and social anxiety disorder but like anything that effects the brain anything can happen so I think you are experienceing some type of paxil withdrawal and the influx of a new drug. Let me know
Your body may not be able to tolerate fluoxetine
