I have taken xanax for sleep for 10 years but going thru a panic attack, depression period and was prescribed the regular ambien, which did let me sleep but woke up sometimes after 3-4 hours..so dr tried the cr..it doesn't work???
That is unusual, but I have heard others say the same. I take regular ambien .5mg to 10mg(sometimes) and it is a crap shoot, one night it will knock me out other nights, nothing. It is a mystery. I would think taking xanex with an ambien would put you out like a light though.
I've had that reaction a few times. I'd be twiddling my thumbs in the middle of the night, waiting for it to work. I found that taking it on an empty stomach works best. Perhaps 3-4 hours after your last meal. Also, taking the ambien cr and going straight to bed doesn't work for me. It's best if you set up awhile (until it 'hits' you) and be active, like surfing the internet, or maybe housework. Also, in case you don't know, the generic is available. To me, it's just as good as the name brand, but cheaper.
I have been taking ambien for 8yrs now. Worked great at first then slowly started dropping to taking up.to 3-4 hrs to fall asleep. I think it's just that I build up a tolerance with all my meds and usually have to up them.
