I have been on it for 5 weeks and don't notice an improvement yet.I just started 100 mg yesterday I was on the starter kit for 5 weeks.and i take lexapro 20 mg whch doesn,t seem to work very well
Yes , i have been on Lamictal for depression. I felt it helped save my life in 2004 when I was going through a major depression. I tool Lamictal 150mg and Paxil CR, which worked great for me for almost 5years. I may have made a big mistake by going off of them both last Summer cold turkey. As i am sure you are aware , Lamictal is used for Epileptics but is also approved for depression and Bipolar disorder. Good Luck.
When I first started lamictal, mu doctor told me it can take a couple months to have full effectiveness. When my daughter was on it it took 4 months to get to full benifits and doctor said that was normal. My 16 year old son has been on it for years and he does great!! lamictil is what's considered a "blood building" drug which means it it has to build up in your blood and this takes a longer time with lamictil. Some meds work instantly and some take time. Be patient, which I know is difficult when you're depressed, give a little more time to build before you decide to stop it, and don't just stop it cold turkey, you must be weaned off of it or it could cause severe withdrawl symptoms. I as well suffer from deep bipolar depression and I empathize with you! Hang in there!
I have been on lamictal for over 7 years for mental breakdown/depression and I'm on lexapro 10mg. If you just started 100 yesterday then give it time to work. I have tried every type there is and lamictal is the best in my book. I have not had a manic in a long time and I can handle problems without depression ( even the checkbook) Some take a while and some can see in a day. I take 300 mg and if I happen to miss a day I feel no affects. My son takes 200mg and if he misses his morning meds by lunch he's going down hill.. Don't get discouraged. Let it do its job. And in a month if you don't feel much better, call your Dr. and he'll add to it probably 50mg at a time ( mine and my son's did that way) till you hit the right dosage. But don't give up. This to me, is a wonder drug. Good luck and I'm here to help if you need me. I've been at this sickness of bi polar/depression for a long time.
