i have been prescribed 30mg but im scared as to how affective it is and the side affects. Does it make you calm? Do you put on weight? Is it worthwhile taking or not. I was prescribed it for anxiety. Anyway hope someone out there can give me some information about it. Thanks for listening.
I took Cymbalta for years. I did have some mild side effects when I first started taking it such as headache, nausea, and diarrhea. They will subside with continued use. It may make you a bit drowsy in the beginning too. It may take upwards of a month to reach maximum effectiveness. The doctor may have to increase the dosage to 60mgs so don't be alarmed if he does.
There are many antidepressants that also help with anxiety. What works for one, doesn't always work for another. It is a trial and error sort of deal. Give it time, if it doesn't do the trick, then try a different one.
Here to support you,
I have been taking cymbalta for years for clinical depression & it has worked very well for me. The first couple of days it caused me to feel tired & lethargic but after that I felt great & have had no visible side effects. Two years ago I developed fibromyalgia and it also seems to help with that as well. Remember, everyone has different results with different meds. You have to be sure to listen to your body & your doctor :)
yes i take cymbalta im on 60mgs it does make you calm,im surprised your not on 60mgs yet. it can make you gain weight if not active enough to help maintain your normal weight.it also used for pain which i didnt know till i joined this group. hope this helped some. if you have concerns talk to your dr. good luck.
Hi skins, I don't want to discourage u, but I had a very negative experience on it. I took it for six years and while it helped the first few months, at least for me, the side effects were really bad... nausea, headaches, weight gain, loss of libido, and the list goes on. I am currently going through hellish withdrawal after tapering off slowly with doc. My doc finally told me that she had no idea it was so awful to get off of. Drug companies just don't tell them these things. I want to stress everyone is different. I hope you investigate further and whatever u decide helps you.
All my best wishes,
