I have hep c and I have caresourse insurance. Would my insurance cover this medication
One way for you to find out is ... to make a call and ask them. Make sure you get the name of the person who would tell you " they do". Another way, is ask your Pharmacy. And your Doctor may know as well. If they don't cover the cost, there are many ways to get help and your doctor should know about that too. Good luck!
It has seemed to be individual with whether they pay. You have to call customer service at the number on the back of your card and ask. You should also go to harvoni.com and click on support and savings. Harvoni is extremely expensive and many people have had to have their dr help get it paid for.
I have tried to check Caresource, to see if they have their formulary online. Unfortunately they do not. But as many have indicated prior to me, it is a simple phone call to determine if you are covered or not. But remember it is a process! Such a simple word for sometimes a very arduous journey! The manufacturer of Harvoni, Gilead does have a website you can go on to get coverage, or lower your cost.
Then there are a number of other organizations that are in place to assist those stricken with chronic illnesses. The group that helped me secure the Harvoni was called "Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF)" The people there were great. I had been turned down 3 times before finally finding one foundation that helped. It all depends on your individual situation. But the people at PAF have the patience of Job! Their job (no pun) is to find you assistance, and they are very good at their job!
So get yourself organized, and settle in for an interesting journey, that is how I viewed the process, and know that there are people out there that care, and you will be treated. Good Luck, and keep coming back.
