... day. I'm taking 500mg each morning. Should I lower or change my intake, maybe take 250mg in the morning and the other half at bedtime?
Hi Jenny, I'm delighted that Antabuse has been effective for you. Giving up drinking is a real achievement. As Antabuse does not induce tolerance but increasingly sensitizes the body to the effects of the medication when alcohol is consumed and can still induce nausea 2 weeks after cessation; taking half the dose before bed might be effective in reducing drowsiness which is listed as a common side effect. As always you should talk to your doctor as he should have ideas on how to reduce the severity of the drowsiness you are experiencing.
Take care and well done, Steve.
