If the half life of Omnicef is only 1.7 hrs., how can it cover as an antibiotic all day?

The judgement is not based on the half life. When manufacturers decide what the needed dosing is they test all different doses. Its not be found to be more effective doing it twice a day then once a day. At least for some infections, not all.
The effect of an antibiotic is generally longer then the actual length of time its in your body.
