I was just wondering if anyone's doctor required that they tried other sleep meds first and only used Halcion as a last choice?
Halcion has allot of side effects, and isn't used much. Docs don't like prescribing it. Its recommended that other pills be tried first.
dj - I answered your question several hours after you posted, got a message that it was pending, but, looks like it never showed up. Guess I gave too much info, so I am going to try again. In the late 80's I was prescribed Halcion for quite some time. (Over 2 yrs) It worked very well for me, I slept soundly and did NOT have the morning after "fog" that some sleep meds cause. At some point it was not pulled, but, very hard to get as it was somehow connected to suicide. The doc that gave it to me then is still part of my "team" of docs, been with me 28 yrs, and I would NOT be able to get it if I begged. I now take Dalmane, which is for Insomnia. I find it works best if I DON't take it every night. I have heard that some people take Halcion when flying internationally. Sleep thru most of flight and no jet lag when destination reached. Hope this one gets posted, still don't know why my 1st answer didn't.
