Please suggest what I can use to help with this.
My husband went through what i thought was shingles earlier this year. He went to about three different dr.s. They all had different opinions. None of which was shingles. He had blisters on his legs, then back, just random. They gave him a host of stuff. He finally got it under control and uses Sarna, and Cetaphil lotion. It seems to help him. It was not a pretty site. I felt so bad for him. I think the dermo dr. finally got it right... kimmie1... hope this helps a little...
I had the shingles several years ago because I was under a lot of stress. My doctor gave me Lindane lotion and Flexeril because my muscles were very tense. He also had me on Loratabs and that helped with my pain. You should go back to your doctor and tell him where you are having pain and how often you are in pain. This will give your doctor a better idea on what type of pain med he needs to give you.
My rather extensive research said the sooner you get medical treatment, the better it works, so I suggest you see your doctor as soon as possible. My doctors put me on Flexeril (I believe that's a muscle relaxant) to help with the pain, an anti-fungal medicine for the shingles virus, and Neurontin for the shingles. The Neurontin really helps the pain but made me feel kind of "drunk". You can take as little as 100 mg three times a day or build up to 500 mg 3 times a day. If it does make you feel too woozy or "out of it", you can try Lyrica instead of Neurontin. They also offered Tylenol #3 for pain but you don't really need it with the Neurontin. Hope this helps.. good luck!
