The doctor prescribed my 8 year ild daughter to take it twice a day,is it going to hurt her by taking it that much?
TONIA; YOU DID NOT SAY WHICH MG FOR YOUR CHILD BUT HERE IS SOME INFORMATION AND i HAVE SEEN IT USE TWICE DAILY WITH MANY KIDS THIS IS THE DOSE FOR 6 YEARS OLD TO 18. and this is copied and pasted from drugs.com drug website it is always good to check out this is in the right range check the milligram on the bottle. normal pediatric dose.(((Maximum dose: 6 to 12 years: Doses above 4 mg/day have not been evaluated; 13 to 17 years: Doses above 7 mg/day have not been evaluated.
Comments: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may require treatment for an extended period of time; healthcare providers should periodically reevaluate treatment and adjust dose as needed.
Use: Treatment of ADHD as monotherapy and as adjunctive therapy to stimulant medications. So chuck here again for your child the normal dose is upto 4 mg total daily and this is normally given in divided doses. But the doctor can even use more added slowly if needed keep in mind childs blood pressure well be checked if they go higher. Hope this helps you
My 9 year old has been taking guanfacine since she was 4 years old. It has been an AMAZING difference! Her blood pressure never dropped much in the beginning and after a couple of weeks their body gets used to the medicine and levels out.
Your daughter's doctor should schedule regular appointments at first to check her blood pressure to make sure that it's not too low.
