and put me on ms contin 15mg. 4 x a day, for the past 2 weeks. Well, it works ok, but yesterday I was in horrible pain in my knees ALL DAY LONG... I did not take any more of the MS than was prescribed, just ice. But towards evening I finally took 3 advil and that gave me a little relief, not much. Point being that the 15 mg. ms contin was not working well. I told my doc today what I have been through and he now has put me on--Kabian 30 mg, every 12 hours, and 10mg percocet 4 times a day. Does anyone know anything about Kabian? I think it is a morphine of some kind... I sure hope it works this time. It costs ALOT more than the ms contin though, and I really wanted something that was generic, as it is gonna be HARD to pay for this. He is having me come in every 2 weeks right now... is that normal? I know it's HARD for me, when we only have ONE car and it goes to work every day and leaves me here with out transportation!! lol All I know is that I am ALOT better off than I was a few months ago, and I am actually starting to have periods of NO PAIN!! Now THAT feels almost normal again. So can anyone tell me about this Kabian and how it works for them?? Thanks for all the help I have gotten here... you guys are GREAT, and I appreciate you, especially after all the years of pain... that ya'll can relate to. It is nice to know I am not alone.
I am happy that tis working for you, that is great! I believe the med you are referring to is actually spelled Kadian, could you please check your vial and see if perhaps tis indeed spelled that way?
IF tis Kadian, you can go to the top of the page, blue bar, and click on Drugs A to Z, and then click on the K's. Then type in Kadian into the search engine.
If you are unable to do this, please post again to let me know and I shall do it for you to find out info about your new med.
Some manufacturers provide low or no cost medication. Please, would you list the manufacturer of your medication? Someone may be able to provide you with a phone number to call and ask for financial assistance.
Best wishes bo,
I have neuromuscular problems associated with effects from polio, that is hy I am on a drug called Opana it is an oxymorphone drug, the one thing that I do know about Kadian is that it is a morphine class drug, it may be that the doctor is having you to come in and see him (not for a long time on that schedule) but because he wants to be able to evaluate and make sure that the medication is doing it's job for you, I don't drive due to multi-health issues so I also can understand what it is like not having the transportation Now I am just guessing once he is able to see how you respond to Kadian he may be willing to prescribe a cheaper drug that is in the generic class of Morphine drugs, (thats partly a guess and the other part is a hope because I know what and how expensive some of these drugs can be) Last winter I caught a fall after we had an Ice storm and broke 4 vertebraes and also messed up a disc in my back, at the time I was on Dilaudid (it is shorter acting type of Morphine) once that happened it gave me no relief at all I tell you it was like taking a glass of water, then is when I was placed on the Opana it took taking (3) 40mg tablets every 8 hours, I have come a long ways since then I am down to using 1 tablet every 8 hours, some people can go 12 hours. MS Contin comes in several different strengths and is also a morphine drug and would most likely be cheaper, they have Oxycontin but it is not a morphine drug and has been reformulated as for some people does not work as well,
Percocet is a drug that sometimes used for breakthrough pain as is Hydrocodone (drugs such as Vicodin, Norco) Fentanyl patches which are applied to your arms or similar area and are changed once every 3 days but they are expensive and some folks have issues with the patch adhering to the skin well.first of all it's finding what works maybe it being a morphine class drug that as I stated before once he see's that this class of drugs is effective and that you can tolerate them then you may be able to ask him if he can come up with a cheaper version that he can try, lots of these companies offer assistance to patients who do not have adequate insurance or are underinsured, this is another thing once you find out what you are able to take then able to find the company that manufactures the drug then you could contact them through their patients assistance program once they see that it is a burden for you for example I have a friend that developed a very unusual strain of bacteria she is going to have to be on this antibiotic formulation for quite a while she was able to find out the company that manufactured the drug and had her physician to fill out the forms (it would have cost her $1,700 for several months treatment, they have Ok'd her and sent the drug to her doctor's office and he will see she gets what she needs but I first id all want you to find out what you can take and then hopefully with these thoughts I in some way have been of some help. you hang in there! I wish you the very best (Billy) I am going to friend you and then if you choose you can click you avitar a friend me then if you choose to talk with me if I can answer any questions or you wish to ask in private then you have that opportunity, the thing I want is for you to be the best that you can be, I don't know all that there is to know but I am willing to help in any way that I can, my first name is Billy and my site name is
