what would be a good sleep aide medicine that works fast that is not over the counter.some names of medicines doctor would give you
If u can sleep good if u just have something to put u to sleep ambien is good. I use ambien CR because I have a hard time falling a sleep and staying asleep. It is time released so it keeps releasing a lil bit of med thru the night and I.stay asleep. Be careful though and try not to use it every night if u don't have to, or don't use long term because any sleep meds used everyday for more than a few months can be very addictive. Good luck and let me know what u and your doc decide on and how it works. ANNA
Please forgive me if I posted my response twice.
I agree with Anna on the Ambien. The extended release will help you stay asleep. I took the non-XR, and I would be wide awake four hours later.
Please ask doc for the XR version. There is also Lunesta and Silenor. Silenor is supposed to be akin to benadryl, yet it is not. It's an hypnotic. It did not work for me, but you could try it.
I know you want non-OTC meds, yet have you ever tried Melatonin? 'Tis OTC, yet I find it helps with insomnia.
Best wishes, and hope you get some Z's!!
