I just read through a lot of the questions and answers. I am 20 years old and have been off the depo for around 10 months now and have had nothing. I went on this at a young age and was not told about infertility problems. After reading through some of the things on here I am left worried that I may not be able to have a child of my own. I really do think something should be done about this awful drug. Just wondering if anyone has had any positive experience with it.
I've never had fertility problems with it.
10 months isn't long in Depo Provera terms. It takes many women 18 months to regain their fertility.
If you're wanting to help the process along, you can take a natural remedy called Agnus Castus (Vitex in the USA). It works to naturally rebalance your hormones, & I had great success with it. You need to keep taking it for months, even when you see improvements in the regularity of your periods. Then you can eventually come down the dose & either keep it at a low dose to help with PMS & heavy periods, or come off it. I use the A. Vogel brand, in a tincture form (liquid).
The only thing is that you can't use it if you are taking hormonal contraception, because hormonal birth control works by creating an imbalance in your hormones, whereas by using AC you'd be trying to 'balance' them, so by taking the two together, you could become pregnant.
