good morning, my father had shingles two years ago, one year ago he had the shingles vaccine and is preparing for this years vaccine - but he is super itchy on his back arms chest and head (feels like a million mosquito bites) constantly itchy - should he embrace another vaccine shot when he feels he is still suffering from the first bout for two years? he is on the blood thinner Pradax and certain medications and ointments are limited - what can he do for the bumps all over him that are unbearably itchy? do you suggest he takes another shingle vaccine? why has this taken so long to heal?thank you for your help - Ann O.
I doubt your father has had shingles for 2 years now. I'm betting he's allergic to something in the shingles vaccine. Just a guess. Shingles is a very painful disease and not especially itchy. Please tell your father to never have another shingles vaccine unless he can somehow prove he's not allergic to the ingredients in it. A doctor would have to help him do this. Should your father be allergic to something in the vaccine, he could have a very serious and life-threatening reaction to another vaccination. It's not worth the risk.
