There are a wide array of medications used for bipolar disorder. Anti-convuslant medications such as Depakote, Neurontin, Tegretol, etc. can be used to be a mood stabilizer.
SSRI's may be used in conjunction with these medications, such as Effexor XR, Celexa, etc.. These may cause manic episodes, so your doctor may use it when you are depressed and then take you off of it when you are manic.
Some medications that are comparable to Seroquel are trazodone and thorazine.
I recommend that you speak with your physician to see what they recommend as your next course of treatment. I have been on A LOT of different medications and after seven years have found a cocktail that actually works. Hang in there and good luck. :)
