Its impossible for me to focus on anything. I literally avoid learning because information does not stick. I've struggled at all my jobs. I'm 35 now and very unsuccessful. I also don't retain information. Please help!
First of all I am sorry that you received no response to your question until now. I think it was posted in a support group that did not fall under your condition. Anyway, there are several different medications that are good for ADHD so it may take some trial and error, but a good Psychiatrist is the first step. I have taken Vyvanse, which worked well for awhile, but now take Adderall and find it most successful. Outside of medication there are tools you can use, like a daily planer that has enough room for writing lists of things you have to get done that day is a must. Also, "chunking" things that become so overwhelming that you cant even begin to start. You do this, for example your room is a mess, so you say "I am just going to go in and get all the trash out" then sit down and watch TV until the commercials come on, then go back in with the thought "I am just going to pick up dirty laundry and get them by the wash/dryer", then sit back down again, next commercial "I'm just going to put my clean clothes away" etc... Hope this helps and good luck
