I have tried muscle relaxers klonopin Tylenol, fiorecet, ultracet and nothing works. I've had a stroke 10 months ago and am on diabetes med, plavix, blood pressure med, and Lipitor. I am 41 years old and these headaches are driving me crazy.
What is a good medication for tension headaches?

Are you sure that your blood sugar levels or blood pressure levels are not causing your headaches? These will not respond to medications. You might try massage and/or manipulation. I used to see a D.O. for massage and osteopathic manipulation and that helped my headaches more than medications did. Medications tend to make things worse because of rebound. Keep a diary and when you get headaches, check your blood sugar and your blood pressures and record. See if there is any kind of pattern. If there is then perhaps an adjustment in medications is needed for better control. You are very young for a stroke so that makes me wonder how well the control of your blood pressure is.
I don't have the bad headaches, but, my daughter and my sister do. They have tried everything. I do think stress is a main factor and I do believe a message would help. But, most people can't afford those.
I do appreciate all the advice you do give. We are just trying to help each other.
