OK i have been on methadone for about 2 years, I'm down to 16mg and supposed to go down to 15 tomorrow, I just can't go anymore, I really have no idea what to expect or how long the withdrawals will last. I have to go to work on Saturday no questions asked, I sit at a desk all day and do nothing pretty much. This is my first time getting off of methadone as well. Any advice would help a lot.
Hello! First I wanna say congratulations on taking the first step. U have to really want to get off of methadone because u r going to b tested. U have gotten down to a descent dose to where u shouldn't get terribly ill. Everyone is different but some things that I experienced,1st day was like a normal day, after that leg twitching +muscle spasms+no sleep for days @a time when I did sleep wasn't for very long. This goes on for an undetermined amount of time(could b few months, but after 1st 2/3weeks these symptoms happen less frequent. The part that u have to stay determined is the anxiety +feeling like u have so much to do but no energy. U have to push yourself a little each day even if its just 1 goal to accomplish. Buy some Valerian root for sleep/anxiety its a vitamin+acai berry vitamins+vitamin c. Try to get some kind of exercise +fresh air. U made need to keep an eye on your blood pressure +may need to see a doctor if anxiety +blood pressure r too bad. Good luck on your journey+remember to stay positive+keep your mind busy, read books,,u can do it.
yea I have to stay active, I have a 1yr old at home, plus work tomorrow, I have hydroxyn hcl to help with some of the symptoms, and multi vitamins, when i got down to this low of a dose I started going into a mild withdrawal about half way though the day, so i just said screw it, why go though this every day when I'm gonna have to go though it no matter what dose im on at this point. where can i get this root from btw?
I know even when I was only at 10 mgs a day I couldn't do it. I tend to panic, and the anxiety seems to be 20 times worse for me. It's something I would never wish on anyone, especially with a child. Of course, work is an added misery. Have you thought about trying Suboxone? I was able to wean down on it pretty easy. Now that I'm back on Methadone, sometimes I wish I had stuck with that. On Suboxone, I was almost there. If I had stuck with it, I would be off everything now.
yea the clinic tried there hardest to get me onto subox, they don't want you to get better, there main objective is to keep you there so you can fork out 14.50 a day for something that cost them a dollar. I'm sitting at work right now, last time i took my does was over 3 days ago, I would normaly start to have withdrawal symptoms half way through the day, I have been taking xanax, a multi vitaman, green tea extract, b6, and just started taking velarian root as well, if the withdrawals stay like this then I'll be just dandy, i got a little sleep lastnight, I am motivated and have a good mind set, going on walks, and yea i really dreaded the fact that i had to come into work today, but I got up and made the bed i put myself into a long time ago.
