been taking at least 16mg of loritabs, roxies, percs, etc a day. i am very determined to kick this crap. on day 7. not expecting any miracle cures but need help getting sleep. only 2 ways i have found that give me about 4 hours of sleep max; wear myself out with exercise (painful) or drink till i pass out. havent drank in 3 years since i started the pills. I have 4 days to get back to work and dont know if i can perform because it is physically demanding. any help would be greatly appreciated. insomnia is killing me.
I was on Percs for about 2 years straight once upon a time for an injury, and going off them was rough. Your best bet is to avoid the alcohol (replacing one habit for another is no buenos). You could try a detox kit to help clean out your system, I found for me, that's the best way to get through withdrawal symptoms and back to normal quickly. Also, the exercise sucks but it will help to get you where you want to be as well. You could try some OC sleep remedies, but ultimately kicking an addiction is rough. Hope you stay offa them!!!
First let me say congrats for getting off the opiates. You are almost through the worst of it so hang in there. You could try some over the counter sleep aids. I recommend melatonin or diphenhydramine (benadryl). Both of these can be purchased at your local pharmacy. I think you'll find either one helpful. Don't recommend you drink til you pass out though. You are trading one abuse for another as previous poster mentioned.
Good luck and keep up the forward motion,
Bless your heart! I used Pepto-Bismol, OTC sleep aids, and was lucky enough to have a script for xanax. I think that helped the most. But, then I was stupid and went on Subutex after detoxing and I'm now having awful side effects from it. It's a miracle drug for some, but not so much for me now. I think I just exchanged one dependence for another. I don't know what to tell you about the drinking; you know it's not good, but then again, whatever gets you through the night. A legal evil.
Klonipin was the best help I had. It helped during the day as well as the night to stop the panic from not having the other drugs and kept me from stupid.impulsive things. Drs don't seem to have a problem with it for anxiety the way the do with Xanax the are worth a try. They even seem to help more and they don't have the stigma Xanax has. Good luck
