... recognize anyone - talks out of her head - went from sleeping 22 hours a day to episodes of non-stop talking and ranting for 18 hours at a time - trying to get out of bed - will not swallow meds. Hospice is giving us steroids (which make her meaner and more combative), thorazine, morphine for pain (which hypes her) and a cream with Ativan, Haldol, benadryl and reglan in it. Isn't there some medication that can be given that will just help her calm down and sleep until the tumor causes her condition to deteriorate more to death?
Please let the doctor know that the patient is in such an aggitated state and let the doctor prescribe something. This is a dangerous situation for the patient and has to be heart breaking and difficult for the family and care givers. It does need to be addressed by the doctor treating the patient.
